![]() I could continue with the sales pitch and tell you what a wonderful game RimWorld is, and how many hundreds of hours of gameplay it offers, but there are already thousands of reviews and articles that do that, so it's no secret by now just how good the game is, and what great value it represents for just $30. But for obvious reasons we do not offer technical support to people using an illegally pirated copy of the game. If you buy the game directly from Ludeon (promotional link incoming.), then not only do you get a legitimate copy of the DRM-free version of the game, which has a lot less technical issues than the Steam version (you get a Steam key as well, but you don't use Steam so.), but you also get access to the technical help that is offered on these forums in the event that you do encounter problems. Also, if the game also doesn't work for your friend then they might have set you up by asking you to come here to these forums to seek help with it, because they know it's generally not a good idea to seek technical help for pirated games on the official forums for that game (not least because it is often easy to spot those using pirated copies of the game, especially when they are unaware of it). I think I can probably make a safe assumption at this point that your friend probably doesn't own the game either, and that he or she is also using a pirated copy of the game. Nice friend that (you might want to do a full scan of your computer asap to check for viruses and malware ). And if they told you they bought it for you then they have lied to you, as well as sending you pirated software. I do not know if they sent you a copy of their own version, or one they illegally downloaded from the internet, but either way your friend has sent you a pirated copy of the game. You said you do not use Steam, but the files in that screenshot are clearly from the Steam version, and all your friend has done is send you a copy of the game files from the Steam version. Also, if you gave your friend money to buy the game for you, or as part of a trade of some sort, then I'm sorry to tell you that you have been tricked. Neither of these two things have happened here. Or if they had bought the game on Steam for you, then you would have the game in your Steam library. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you do have a friend, but your friend has not bought the game for you at all, as if they had bought you the game from Ludeon then you would have your own personal download link from which to download the DRM-free version. There are only two places to buy the game from, directly from Ludeon (the DRM-free version), or from Steam. Well I can already give you an answer if you don't want to wait. No idea why it as so difficult for you to do, but. I have attached your log file to your post. Not sure if this bug can be fixed that way, but if all else fails it might be worth trying. What language are you running the game in? And what is your current system language and localisation setting? As there have been some bugs reported that were fixed by changing these settings to English. įinally there are a lot of translation errors being reported. So have you checked to see if your mod folder is empty? I can't see any other references to mods being used, nor do I know much about the modding side of the game, but I'm wondering if your core files have been edited? Have you tried a complete uninstall, registry clean, and reinstall from the DRM-free installer? Details on how to do this can be found in the following thread (other solutions mentioned there, like deleting the config files, might be worth trying as well). Mod EdB Interface has incorrectly formatted target version 'Alpha 12'. There is also a reference to an outdated mod file in the log. ![]() Maybe the game is shutting down (crashing) because the Steam client isn't running? You said you got this game from a friend? How did you "get" it exactly? As I can' t understand that line in the log if you are using the DRM-free version purchased directly from Ludeon. ![]() I use the DRM-free version and don't touch Steam if I can avoid it, and yet I don't have a line like this in my log. Possible causes: Steam client not running, launched from outside Steam without steam_appid.txt in place, running with different privileges than Steam client (e.g. Looking at the log there appears to be a few different errors.įirstly you say you are not running the Steam version, nor do you use Steam, but yet there is this error in your log.
